This week’s cg message was on Stepping Out. Stepping out into the unknown, to attempt the impossible, in confidence, and from the pull of the world. Which reminds me of this story that was emailed to me recently…
Once upon a time, there was a group of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd has gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants. The race began…
Honestly, no one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. They made statements such as, “Oh, way too difficult!!” “They will NEVER make it to the top.” or “Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!”
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one. Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher…. The crowd continued to yell, “It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!” More tiny frogs got tired and gave up….
But ONE continued higher and higher and higher…. This one wouldn’t give up! At the end, everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!
All the other tiny frogs wanted to know how this one tiny frog managed to do it. A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal. It turned out…. That the winner was DEAF!!!!
In the real world, we are like this group of tiny frogs. All of us want to climb to the top. To win, to be successful, to achieve our dreams. The climb will always be tough and at times, seems almost impossible to reach. Plus, there will ALWAYS be people around us (and even the inner voices within us) who will try to pull us down with their negative and discouraging words. And then we began to doubt ourselves, lose our confidence, our faith and eventually, we gave up the beautiful dreams and goals that we once had.
So the wisdom of the story is to be like that tiny frog. No, not to be physically deaf, but to be “deaf” to those around you who tend to be negative or pessimistic. Be “deaf” when people tell you that you cannot fulfill your dreams. Break away from the pull of the world. We may not know if we can make it, but we need to step out with confidence into the unknown and attempt the impossible. Because what may seem impossible to us will NEVER be impossible for Him. Continue to focus on what you want to achieve and have faith. Be a tiny frog, but one with great faith! Always think: God and I can do this!
Here’s a quote from Dr A.R. Bernard’s Happiness is…a way of mind, a way of life. “If you dwell on the world’s messages, you are setting yourself up for disaster. If you dwell on God’s message, you are setting yourself up for victory!”
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. 1 John 5:4 NKJV

I can’t agree more! Truly as a man thinks in his heart, so is he! So how do you expect to have a good image of yourself and your visions and dreams if you keep hearing all the negative things?
Without knowledge (of the promises of God), people perish. I say we should all get to know more of God’s word and what He promises in the bible so that even when we hear negative remarks (and we definitely will), we will be able to reject them because we have heard better, more encouraging words from God!
Amen!..Our walk with God is built upon the Holy Spirit & the Word of God..Even if u have read the bible fm Genesis to Revelation many times, thr is always a new insight & revelation u can receive.God is a God of new things..The word is the manna & the Spirit is the life..Do we need any more reasons to go for bible study classes?
I think not just bible studies lor… EVERY spiritual activity is a chance for God to touch you and receive a new revelation and word from God! That means every church service, bible study and yes, the coming PRAYER MEETING!
Sometimes it’s very easy for “old-timers” like me to slip into the “I’ve-heard-pastor-preach-that-same-sermon-before” mentality but I always have to remind myself it’s not pastor who’s talking to me, but the Holy Spirit speaking THROUGH him.
I believe if we continually keep our hearts open and hungry to hear a word from Him, He will speak to us, regardless of whether it’s the first or the tenth time we’re hearing a sermon message! Remember that God is only found by those whose hearts diligently seek Him!
Yup..Can u imagine a trip to JB can bring abt a revelation & understanding of how creative our Papa is? And becos of tat, new ideas & creativity can be birthed forth out of that revelation & understanding…God can speak anytime but are u ready & tune to the right channel to listen?
